LIFE IN KASIGLAHAN VILLAGE

By Charmaine Sanggalang

Being the pioneering undergraduate CD fieldwork students, our team focuses on social investigation and organizational profiling. During our three-month stay, we worked on the community baseline profile from the survey conducted by our contact-organization KADAMAY last summer, attended our partner-organization JIOPVO-DAMAYAN’s activities such as officer’s meetings, committee meetings and general assemblies, conducted focus group discussions (FGD) on their livelihood program, help facilitate in their children’s workshops and joined in their mass actions on housing and other national issues.

But most of all, life in Kasiglahan Village 1 is living with the people. Community integration is the most important part of our fieldwork because it helps us know and understand the lives of the people living in poverty and specially, those who are struggling for justice
